I clicked this picture in the ruins of Qutub Minar on a hot summer day in the capital city of India. I was showing a friend around when I lifted my head and saw this Mynah sitting in the shade of centuries old stone panels that make up this monument. She just sat there, perched up top, watching the hoards of tourists bravely face the ruthless summers of Delhi.
Thinking back, I think this might be my first ‘bird-shot’ and I have obviously got work to do. Unfortunately, you don’t get to see many sparrows in Delhi anymore, but this Mynah fit the frame pretty well!
I’d love to find some sparrows and ravens to test my skills out on before an exotic bird takes my breath away as it flies from tree to tree and I fumble to get my camera (which I didn’t have on this particular occasion).
I do know that focusing on the eyes would have probably brought out a better picture but the height of the panel this little one is perching on made it hard to accomplish that.
Regardless, I’d be happy to hear any suggestions any of you readers might have. It might just help me get a better shot next time!
