It’s really hot in India at the moment. The summers are brutal and most of us voluntarily remain indoors instead of planning outdoor activities. What that means is that almost all of the Indian summer is cordoned off as a time when moving out is considered sheer idiocy.
So, today I indulged in idiocy and enjoyed it. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I am planning to put myself through the agonizing heat again. This date marks my first organized shoot with a friend. Finally sick of the cafes and restaurants, the endless coffees and dinners, we decided to venture out with our cameras to the Lodi Garden in New Delhi.
It turns out that we weren’t the only ones who decided to venture out on this hot summer evening. People were jogging, kids were playing badminton and football, and families were sitting in the shade of trees as we wandered around the complex trying to capture its beauty.
Yes, it was a memorable day. But what sticks with me more than anything else is that Mohammad Shah and Sikander Lodi are probably in a happy place knowing that even their tombs are surrounded with a certain tranquil joy.
