Control. That’s what it seems we are all trying to gain every day of life. Controlling what we do, exerting force on situations and people where we have no influence, trying to create happiness and contentment. It is rewarding some times, and exhausting most of the time.
And then out of nowhere those rare moments come along where we realize that happiness is right there, within reach, without any effort on our part. Sparked by an event, a book, a song, or simply words of a friend or stranger. It’s enough to shake us out of our stupor and false pretence that happiness must be achieved through action.
It’s everywhere–in the way the wildflowers move to the wind, in the way the stillness of the lake is contrasted by the movement of clouds above, and in the sounds of nature. If this is not a gift to mankind, I don’t know what is. So, in this moment of trying to find happiness, I will look back through the treasure trunk of memories and I hope you do too.
